The wily Gallagher clan return for a shenanigan-filled third series that begins with deadbeat Frank (William H. Macy) waking up in Mexico. After a massive bender that lasted for several months, Frank has no idea how he is going to get back home. Back in Chicago, things aren't any better as Fiona (Emmy Rossum) struggles to adapt after Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) moves in with her. But things are even worse for Jimmy. Estefania's drug-lord father kills her boyfriend in front of Jimmy and then forces him to hack up the body and dispose of it. When Frank finally returns to the Windy City he resorts to his underhanded ways and uses Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) to scam a children's cancer foundation. Meanwhile, Fiona lands a job as a cashier at a local grocery store; Veronica (Shanola Hampton) and Kevin (Steve Howey) go to extreme lengths to conceive a baby; and Jimmy learns that his dad is gay and is sleeping with Ian (Cameron Monaghan). Everything comes to a head when the Department of Child and Family Services learns of the Gallaghers' unusual dynamics and threatens to take the kids away.
